The South Rim of the Chisos Mountains is a steep hike from the Chisos Basin but well worth it. The rim has a sheer drop of a couple thousand feet or so and excellent views to the south.

Boot Canyon, below the rim on the eastern part of the trail, 3/22/06. The grass is Muhlenbergia emersleyi.

A rock formation called The Finger (at least, that's what I call it), below Boot Canyon on the way back down to the basin, 12/31/04. Jana McFarland tells me that this is actually called "The Boot" and is the basis of the name "Boot Canyon". However, I will continue to call it The Finger.
