Bromus frondosus (Shear) Woot. & Standl.

A weeping brome with short awns and 3-nerved, glabrous glumes. This species can be difficult to distinguish from Bromus anomalus and Bromus porteri, but is the only one of the three that can have glabrous lemmas (plants vary, however, and the lemmas are sometimes pubescent!).

An inflorescence, below McKnight Road on the way to Yates Spring Canyon, west side of the Black Range, Grant County, New Mexico, 26 Aug 2011.

A spikelet with the second floret partially open, below McKnight Road, 27 Aug 2011.

A spikelet with none of the florets open, below McKnight Road, 27 Aug 2011.

Ligule, below McKnight Road, 27 Aug 2011.
