Sitting Bull Falls is in the northeastern part of the Guadalupe Mts., north of the high
escarpment that forms the eastern boundary of the main body of the range. Like the rest of
the Guadalupe Mts., the area is limestone from an ancient reef. Sitting Bull Canyon and Last
Chance Canyon, into which it drains, have water during most of the year.
