Trillium nivale

An uncommon spring ephemeral, opening earlier than the other Trilliums and usually in rocky areas.

Plant habit at McCormick's Creek, 4/17/04. These plants had already flowered; the calices can be seen curved down to the bases of the plants, though in flower they would have been erect.
